Tropocast for Android

The Tropocast map in an Android application.

The signed Tropocast application opens the same responsive interactive map as the web and PWA client. It is not a separate forecast engine, so the map, timeline, renderers, layers and languages stay consistent.

Functionality

One forecast interface, adapted for Android.

Interactive forecast map

Browse the current and archived VHF/UHF propagation forecast, choose source, layer, time, opacity and renderer.

Eight interface languages

English, Polish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Czech and Croatian use the same language preference as Tropocast on the web.

Area propagation alerts

Choose an alert centre on the map and a 50–300 km radius. The Android app uses its own scheduled delivery worker, without Firebase or Google services.

Two home-screen maps

Add a map for current modelled conditions or a forecast at +6, +12 or +24 hours. Choose the map area when adding each widget.

Installation

Install the signed Android application.

Download the file on an Android device, open it and allow installation from this browser when Android asks. Version 1.0.2 opens the map directly in the app. It requests location only when you choose the current location, and notifications only after you enable an alert.
